10 May 2016 – Wellspring Learning Community organised their first “Sports and Wellbeing Weekend” in Sun City Resort, Ajaltoun. The event lasted for 3 days under the supervision of Coach Ahmad Yamout and Wellspring’s teachers, nurse, and staff.
The main objective of this weekend was to expose students to more physical activity and influence the wellbeing of each individual. Students were trained by top notch coaches who dedicated their time to teach and advise students throughout training sessions.
The sports offered were basketball, football, tennis, swimming, strength and conditioning, table tennis, and dance. In addition, students participated in a lively sunrise yoga session that included physical and breathing exercises, meditation, and relaxation.
On Sunday morning, students and teachers went for a bicycle hike from Faqra Country Club to Bakish and returned to the resort for a day full of sports competitions. The wellbeing and health sessions were given by Wellspring’s school counsellor and school nurse that tackled the ways to cope with stress in sports competitions and how to reduce the risk of getting injured in sports at a young age.
At the end of the weekend, each student was give a certificate of participation and medals were awarded to the winners of the sports competitions.
