Results of the Lebanese Individual Championship in Athletics – Day 1

One of the athletes who really excelled today is Nour HADID (Army). This young men aged only 22, is not only the 100m Lebanese Champion but also the 200 meters Lebanese Champion in 21.99. But the huge effort that he did today was on the 4x100m relay; the CSJ team was doing extremely well with Raphael SAMAHA on the first leg, Mahmoud DAOU on the second, Daniel BASSOUS in the third position and finally Michel ZEINATY in the last 100m, they were ahead of the Army team before Nour overcame Michel in the last 50 meters speeding till the last inch! But we should note that Michel is feeling discomfort in his leg which didn’t allow him to give his 100% on 200 meters and in the relay.

Mahmoud DAOU (CSJ) is only 18 and won silver on the 200 meters clocking a superb 22.08! He is still a first year junior athlete and still has till next year to break the long standing record of 22.02 done by Mohamad TAMIM back in 2003! He also participated in the long jump where he jumped only three attempts and scored 6.02 meters. This tall young man was discovered in football, a sport that he loves and is still practicing, but in track and field he is earning what he worked for, for himself and for his very supportive club, CSJ.

In the women’s long jump, Lea AZAR (Champville) improved her kids record to 4.25 meters! Every time she jumps she improves few centimeters. This young girl will have more to offer if she keeps training and enjoying what she does. The most important is to become a successful senior athlete!

Tomorrow is the last day of this championship, it will surely be the most exciting day with the 4×400 meters relays and with the comeback of Ramzi NAIM (Champions) and Ahmad HAZER (Champions) from two years drug suspension!
