LSA swimmers set 9 records at the Lebanese Swimming Championship!

31 May 2016 – The Lebanese Swimming Academy, headed by the coach Georges YAZBECK, collected 31 gold, 14 silver and 18 bronze medals and broke 9 records during the Lebanese Swimming Championship that was held in Jamhour in the 25m pool.

In the 100m freestyle, Joseph NADER broke Mahmoud DAABOUL’s record of 1:20.56 by swimming the distance in 1:18.89! In the 50m Freestyle, Tracy CHMEIAA was able to set a new record of 35.81. The previous record was 36.24 for Roula HARES.

The star of the Championship was undoubtedly Gabriella DOUEIHI, who broke four records in the Youth category (16-17) and three of them are considered National records as well! Gabriella improved her previous 100m IM record clocking 1:06.43. In the 100m Freestyle, she swam the distance in 59.00 breaking the previous record of 59.59 by Nibal YAMOUT.

Gabriella also shined in the 200m where she clocked 2:06.09 improving her previous record of 2:07.65. The talented young swimmer also set a new record in the 400 meters freestyle clocking 4:28.76 breaking the previous record of Nadia NAHBAN that was 4:31.51!

Moreover, her younger sister Hiba DOUEIHI set a new record in the 50m butterfly with 30.42 seconds breaking Marie KHOURY’s record of 31.94 seconds.

Their teammate Rebecca MEZHER broke the 50m Breaststroke clocking 35.90 seconds that was previously held by Roula HARES.

Finally, LSA completed their quest of records in the 4x50m freestyle relay with Rebecca MEZHER, Maria TABBARA, Yara BECHARA and Hiba DOUEIHI who clocked 2:01.12.
