Lebanese Swimming at the 28th Summer Universiade Gwangju 2015
13 Jul. 2015 – What is really cool in swimming at international competitions is that they organize the heats from the fastest to the slowest according to the best times of the swimmers. Our swimmers were competing with other swimmers who have the same level.
Joanne SKAFF started the swimming competition with the 50m butterfly clocking 35.28 and finishing second in her heat. She also competed in the 100m backstroke and was placed 5th with 1:19.86. She finally swam the 50m backstroke in 37.29 and finished in 6th place.
Maroun WAKED started with the 100m backstroke cloking 1:02.78 and finishing 8th in his heat before attacking the 200m Individual Medley heats swimming the distance in 2:18.98 and finishing 8th. He also participated in the 50 backstroke and clocked 28.96 and set a new record in the 200m backstroke with 2:18.44.
Charlie SALAME started with the 100m Breaststroke and finished the race in 4th place with 1:13.35. He then clocked 32.29 in 50m breaststroke and finished 5th. He finally clocked 25.97 in 50m freestyle and was placed in the second place.
Mohamad BAGHDADI started with the 50m butterfly clocking 26.74 and was placed 6th. He also did the 200m freestyle in 2:05.93 and was also placed 6th. He then finished first in his 100m freestyle heat with 56.22 and 6th in the 50m freestyle in 25.74.
Kareen FALLAHA started with the 100m Freestyle and finished second in her heat with 1:07.28. Her second event was 50m freestyle and she clocked 29.69 finishing second in her heat.
Her sister Laura FALLAHA took part in the 100m breaststroke and completed the distance in 1:32.71 and was placed 3rd in her heat. In the 50m breaststroke she clocked 41.57 and finished 1st in her heat.
Milad FARJALLAH participated only in the 50m breaststroke and clocked 35.39 and was placed 3rd in his heat.
Nadine KAMEL participated in the 50m backstroke and clocked 37.48 and was placed 6th in her heat.
Finally, Samer YAGHMOUR who lives in Canada, set a new record in 1500m freestyle clocking 16:30.70 finishing first in his heat, while on the other hand, he took part in the 10km but gave up on the 5th km after following the pace of the best swimmers.
Our swimmers also participated in the relays:
Men’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay – Mohamad Baghdadi, Charlie Salame, Samer Yaghmour, Maroun Waked: 3:47.64 (6th place)
Women’s 4x100m Medley – Joanne SKAFF, Laura FALLAHA, Nadine KAMEL, Kareen FALLAHA: 5:29.48 (5th place)
