Lebanese Basketball League – Preview: Hoops vs Louaize
16 Jan. 2017 – One of the best defensive teams this season, Louaize, will visit Hoops tonight in hopes of adding more misery to Hoops’ situation this season. Indeed, Hoops are yet to win a game this season and are in serious danger of missing out on the playoffs. They are already 3 games behind their closest opponent and the situation isn’t improving much.
The arrival of Vladan has surely relieved some problems under the basket, as the Serbian center can play the post and even hit his shots. He scored 23 and grabbed 15 rebounds against Champville, but the task will be harder against Wendell Lewis and the much more organized Louaize.
Ali Mezher & Izzat Kaissi, the only Lebanese players in Hoops who are having major play time will have to move the ball pretty fast and efficiently to try and break the resilient defense they will face. Ali is a fan of fast ball, but it is easily punishable against a team that can run the fast-break pretty well too. Darrius Garret will have to help setting up his teammates on the pick and roll, especially Izzat and the other shooters in the team.
On the other hand, Geron Johnson is expected to have a good scoring game as he did not once score below the 20 points mark this season. His only problem is the turnovers; he’s averaging 6.12 so far! Moreover, it will be key for Elie Stephan to find his shots as he’s the most solid shooter on his team.
Meanwhile, Miguel Martinez & Travis Mckie should focus on attacking the basket to draw fouls from Vladan; putting him in foul trouble would cause a lot of problems for Hoops.
Overall, the game should be exciting because Hoops surely don’t want to finish the first leg without a win. So, they will give their best in these final 2 games. Good luck!
