Lebanese Basketball League-Preview: Byblos vs Mayrouba
15 Feb.2017- After a very close encounter in round 3 that resulted in a 77-74 Byblos victory, Mayrouba hope to take advantage of the hurt Jbeili team to clinch their 4th win of the season.
Byblos have been dealt a huge blow after losing Clay Tucker for this game for personal reasons. His replacement is Steven Roundtree, a 2.06 m forward who’s been training with the team. Tucker is added to the list of absentees with the likes of Rodrigue Akl, Ali Kanaan and Omar Turk.
With all these injuries, the next man has to step up, exactly what Tarek Ammoury did against Sagesse. Fighting and hustling on both ends of the floor. After taking on Stoglin last week, Tarek will have to defend another tricky scorer in Calvin Cage. The heart and soul of this Mayrouba team. He’s proving to be quite the versatile scorer with range that spans to “sehet Jounie”. And with Emmanuel Jones next to him, they can play the inside-outside play quite well with Jones good penetrations and drive abilities.
As for Fouad Anati he will surely have the job of guarding Jay Youngblood. With Tucker absent, Jay will have a bigger weight to carry offensively. Denying will be crucial for Mayrouba to steal a win in Jbeil.
Down low, Mayrouba have an advantage they should explore. Robert Upshaw has everything in his favor facing Ndudi Ebi under the basket. Size, height, and strength on his side Upshaw is the go-to guy. With Joe Abi Kheres helping with limiting Upshaw, Tom Ammar and co might find space to operate on the weak side.
Mayrouba will surely fight to the end as a win today will further them from the bottom spots as Byblos aim to solidify their 2nd spot.
