09 Nov. 2016 – ATCL organized a two days training session for young Karting drivers with the support of the FIA (International Federation of Automobile) in order to develop our young talents and give them the opportunity to compete on an international level.

More than 30 drivers aged between 10 and 18 took part in this session. ATCL hosted the first day of training while the second day took place in RPM, Maten.

This is the third edition of the FIA training session internationally and the first of a kind in the region. The session emphasis on the technicality of driving, the rules and the career management. It also included physical conditioning and proper nutrition for drivers.

On the other hand, Simon Fitchett, the Formula 1 coach from Great Britain, supervised the Karting session as well as the coordinator of the FIA in the Middle East and Northern Africa Imad Lahoud, and the Lebanese drivers Khalil Bachir, Nicola Hindi and Saeed Zakka.

The best two drivers who will prove themselves among the participants will have the chance to take part in the test drive of the Formula 4 in Great Britain. The names will be announced in the upcoming days.

Finally, after two days of practice and racing, the supervisors were impressed by the great discipline that the young Lebanese drivers have. Lahoud said: “This is the first session in the MENA area. We had amazing coaches who followed the rich program of the FIA. Some of the drivers grabbed our attention and we really think that they can shine on the regional stage.”

Moreover, the experienced coach, Simon Fitchett said: “I think it was a great session. It is also a good start for some of the young drivers. It allowed them to see what this sport requires and what they need in order to improve. Now they have a solid base they they build their career on!”

With those words, we have realized that we have a lot of young talents in our country. This session was very important for our young drivers and we hope to see them shine on the international stage!
