29 Dec. 2016 – Year after year, our Lebanese athletes add amazing achievements to the history book, raising our flag high on the international stage.

Bronze medal for Leatitia Aoun at the World Juniors Taekwondo Championship. She also won a silver medal at the 2016 Taekwondo Turkish Open!


7 medals for Lebanon at the 5th Asian Beach Games:

Jad Fadel won a bronze medal, Pierre Bou Abboud and Elie El Chaer grabbed 2 bronze medals in KurashRola Khaled won silver in Muay Thai and Mariana Kamra (51KG) and Mohamad Fneich (81KG) won a bronze medal each and The Lebanese National Beach Soccer team won bronze.


Salim Chidiac Grabs Bronze Medal at Kyokushinkai Karate Arab Championship


Lebanon with a Gold Medal at the Kung Fu World Cup through Ali Ayyoub. He was also able to grab 2 other bronze medals in 2 other categories.

MMA international championship results : 4 medals for LebanonBassem Ibrahim grabbed the gold medal in the -75kg category in the MMA Light Sanda. Ali Chkeir, grabbed one silver in the “MMA Elite” category and one gold medal in MMA Full Sanda both in the -60kg. As for Ahmad Kaoukji, he came back with the silver medal in the MMA Full Sanda in the -60 category.

7 Medals for Lebanon in the Karate World Championship


Sara Joe Kortbawi grabbed 2 silver medals at the 1st Juniors West Asian Championship in 800 and 1500 meters. Jean Claude Abou Faycal won Silver in Shot Put and Mahmoud Daou grabbed silver in the 200m for Lebanon at the same championship.

Lebanese Rugby League National Team retain the Mediterranean Cup


Silver Medal for the Lebanese team at the 12th Arab Shooting Championship with Walid Najjar, Alain Moussa and Joseph Hannah.


Lebanese Shooting Team, Alain Moussa, Jad Hamade and Hicham Jabre, won a Bronze Medal at the 2016 Asian Shotgun Championshipshooting-lebanon-asia

5th Arab Triathlon Championship: Lindzi Nader won a silver medal in the Under 23 category, Elias Baydoun took a silver medal, Hanna Bou Farhat came in third place in the same category. Elias and Tala Salam won a bronze medal in the Under 16.


USEK’s Women’s Basketball Team brought home the gold at the international basketball tournament that took place in UAE while USEK’s Women’s Futsal Team won Silver in Abu Dhabi.


Thea Abou Diwan won silver at the International Open Figure Skating championship!

Chrystelle Doueihy won the gold medal in 8 Km Open Water race in Dubai 

Ahmad Ondash and Youssef Abboud respectively won Gold and Silver at the World Championship Muai Boran!
Ray Bassil was ranked number one in the world after winning a gold medal at 1st Stage of ISSF Shotgun World Cup and qualifying for the final of 3 consecutive World Cup finals in only 2 months right before the Games. She also won a Silver medal at ISSF World Cup in Baku, and silver medal at the ISSF World Cup in Rio. Ray also won a bronze medal at the Asian Shooting Championship this year.

Nacif Elias won a silver medal at the Asian Judo Championship and took part in Rio 2016 Olympic Games where he was disqualified in the first match. He won the 2016 Pan American Open Buenos Aires. Nacif also won the World Cup in 2016. After Rio, he took his revenge by winning the Brazilian Judo tournament.



Maryana Sahakyan: won the Arab and West Asian Table Tennis championship and qualified for the Olympic Games.


Chirine Njeim was the first woman in Athletics to ever qualify for the Olympic Games. She set a new Lebanese Marathon record and was able to make it to her first summer Olympics. She haf previously competed in 3 Winter Olympic Games in Alpine Skiing.


Mona Shaito qualified for her second consecutive Olympic Games after winning the Asian U23 Fencing ChampionshipRio-2016-Olympics-KrystelSaneh-Shaito-2

Richard Merjan won the Asian Championship to secure a place in Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.


Gabriella Doueihy collected 6 Swimming Gold Medals and broke 2 Records in Cyprus. She was the youngest participant in Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games. Gabriella Also represented Lebanon at the World FINA Championship (25m) and set 3 records.
